Being gay is as complicated as we choose for it to be, just as relationships can be as complicated or simplistic as we choose. I know you still have certain definitions, societal norms, of what a ‘normal’ relationship is. You have been a great friend to many over your life, which indicates you’ve had many functional relationships. We place so many expectations on ourselves and others when we add sex into the equation. You know me, I learned my sexual norms from older men on Christopher Street in NYC and the bathhouses. Basically if it feels good it’s normal 🤣. For me, that has always kept it uncomplicated. I’ve treated those I love as my best friend, treating them with the respect I view every friendship deserves. Sex only complicates it when there are different expectations or when one isn’t respecting the friendship. You will figure it out my friend, that I have no doubt

It may have been easier in the closet, but is that necessarily better? I honor the courage it takes to share your journey.

The courage for you to come out is hard work. Having it all figured out, takes time. I think it's a very complicated process where your thoughts shift as you find out new information from others and your self. So a never ending process that your contently learning and evaluating.

I hear you Charlie. At 67, like you I have only been aware of my true sexuality and out for 3 years. I’m finding that there are a huge variety of ways to be gay and I just have to choose the path that feels right to me. Life is hard and it’s complicated and it’s so worth it!!

Charles , I would have to say that both our lives were similar in the early stages of coming out and living authentically. I was hesitant at first to reach outside my safe zone. I saw ads for the local bear group and a men's nudist group. I figured what better way to introduce myself to the gay community. Appearing naked at the nudist group took a lot of courage and some men were of the opinion that I was fresh meat for their hands etc. That was way out of my comfort zone. At my first bear Prowl night, it was super evening with so man hugs that I lost count of. Some of the guys were mutual members of both groups so that was a bit of a comfort. My partner and I are celebrating 25 years together (July 22nd). We have been each other's pillar of strength and I love him even more than when we first met. Take the time for yourself and let the journey direct you on the path you decide is best for you. Sending love and hugs, Mike.

Wishing you the best and hoping that in time you will find that living authentically is far better than the closet. 🤞🏻

Charlie, as the saying goes, “You’re a sight for sore eyes!” I have been stalking this spot to see if you’ve been around but determined not to invade your space ( I guess I’m doing that now). Anywho, it’s good hearing from you.

Muddling through this thing called Life is tricky and it doesn’t come with an instruction manual. And it doesn’t come with time limitations. “After 1 year this happens! The next year something else happens”

Just follow your heart and be patient with yourself because You’re worth it!

Continuing to keep you in my thoughts and sending positive Vibes Your way!

Sending Virtual Hugs to You as Well!! 🫂🫶🫂💕
