FATHERHOOD
Father’s Day is Sunday. My 4th since coming out; estranged from my kids.
Father’s Day is for dads to be celebrated by their children.
I’m one of the good ones, have a lot to be proud of.
But I won’t be celebrated or celebrating this year. Just another day.
I know many gay men who regret they couldn’t be fathers. I’m fortunate to have brought other lives into this world. My greatest gifts and accomplishments.
I’m reminded that I’ll forever be a dad.
Well, at least on paper.
Charlie, You’ll always be a Dad who has cared for and who cares about his children. Hopefully they’ll realize before they get too much older that they’re missing out on getting to know a wonderful Man who is proud to be their Dad!
